Sam Neelam

Sam Neelam grew up poor in a Catholic orphanage and came to America in 1999 with almost nothing. A good K–12 education is what changed his life. He went on to build technology companies that do business worldwide, and he is running for the Polk County School Board to give Polk's children the same start that was given to him.

Sam’s story

He grew up poor, in a Catholic orphanage that took in children nobody was coming back for.

What changed his life was not money, and it was not government. It was a good K–12 education — teachers who expected something of him, and the discipline to meet it.

He came to America in 1999 with almost nothing and built technology companies that do business worldwide. Today he helps fund educational sponsorships for underprivileged children abroad — the same kind of help that changed his own life.

Now he is asking to serve the schools that serve Polk County’s children.

“This county gave me everything. This is my turn to give back.”

Election Day is Tuesday, August 18, 2026

Every Polk County voter votes in every School Board race, no matter which district you live in. If you are registered in Polk County, District 5 is on your ballot.

There is no November runoff for District 5. Tuesday decides this seat.

01Parental Rights

Parents are responsible for their own children. Our school system should support that responsibility, not work around it.

02Academic Excellence

Florida's schools should be the best in the world, and Polk County's should lead the state. That starts with getting the basics right.

03School Safety

Every Polk County school should be safe and free of violence — for students and for the adults who teach them

04School Choice

Stay ahead of attackers with real-time insights, predictive analytics, and global cyber threat tracking.

05Technology in the Classroom

Technology is a tool, not a substitute for thinking. Students need to be able to read, write, and reason without it.

06Faith and Values

Families of every faith should be respected in Polk County schools, and the values this country was built on should not be treated as something to apologize for.
